The most important riding event with CP cycles was without no objection 5 summits and sixpack, which usually took place on first sunday in June. Miss it and you miss a lot... The last year, Greg and me have invented one more action, called Tequila sunrise. The Idea behind was to enjoy the riding in the night or early morning, found a nice place to spot the sunrise, and welcome the morning sun with a tequila. We did this sometime in the fall.
While doing 5 summits and sixpack in Grenoble would be quite demanding, I was feeling that the tequila sunrise would fit very well here. I have a great mountain above my apartment with a nice view, and the downhill is cool as well.
11th November is a national holiday. The weather forecast was great. Wind, later on some clouds and in the middle of the day rain.
So what is the best time to go biking? Morning!!!
I get out of bed before 5, eat peanut butter sandwich, and equipped with the led light (my better light has broken holder) I have set out to climb to the St. Eynard fortress. The riding in the morning has a very special spirit. The atmosphere is very peacefull and calm. Road illuminated with moon is almost car free (to be safe, I turned my head light back to warn cars from back, because I did not have a red blinking light). Sometimes, there are two green
eyes of cat. It just georgous. Than, the sky starts to bright, getting blue and red. When I have reached the peak, I could not see the sunrise though, because the wind brought the clouds. Despite being very windy and cold up there, I rest for a while. The moment was special. The most people in Grenoble under me were sleeping, and I was on top of the mountain, watching other mountains with snow caps.
I set off for nice downhill, did one more climb for another great downhill above the Bastille. I met there an old couple doing morning walk in fast pace. Both of us were equally surprised, but I felt close to them.
Bonne journee.

Rainy day

Grenoble is located in the middle of the mountains, which means mountains are all around, but the city itself is flat and only 200m above the sea level. This geographical configuration has its interesting consequences. Sourrounding mountains keep everything inside (and unfortunately above) the city, especially pollution and clouds are being trapped and stay. So when it starts to rain, it rains until clouds are not completely drawn.
Since the Grenoble is polluted, many people live outside and commute by car to the city and make it more poluted. That is one way to tackle the problem. The second one is cycling, which also have the advantage "no traffic jam for bikers." Since I live outside Grenoble (something like living in Zbraslav), I try to cycle every morning to university. When it is dry, it is great...
On Thursday night, the rain was pouring whole night. I was mentally preparing myself for taking bus to university for the first time, but when I stepped out of the house, around 8, I saw that the rain is kind of light, so I came back home, changed and cycled to university. Of course I got all wet including my underwear (my Burger bike does not have fenders yet), but I felt good when I made it. One incidence on the way affirmed more in doing these things.
I met a guy on bicycle towing trailer with kid behind. I assumed he was taking him to the kindergarden. The kid was calm and father seemed relaxed, like if there was nice, sunny sky above us. May-be, I just did not see that.
How should I conclude long story just about one inspiring incident? I need to get fenders, waterproof pants, keep extra underwear in the school, and keep cycling!!!

Why?

When someone moves to unknown place and does not know the language of the country one is living, it is certainly an interesting experience. So, I will may-be write about it. And may-be about other things, which were funny or which come to my mind. Writing blog is proxy for sharing experience with othes (in past, people were gathering in plazas to do so). So I encourage you to leave me comments, because than I will feel like I am having dialog.

I hope that Czech speaking readers will appologize myself that I have chosen English instead of Czech, but may-be some people not speaking czech might be interested reading this.

One more thing. I do not know, how frequent I will be, because when I am riding bike, I am having many things, but when I want to write them down, I cannot find them in my mind.
